Journeyman Album

Deathstar Productions is an Independent Record Company who is based in Kuala Lumpur .and was formed to promote and sell music made by local musicians. There is a lot of talent here and no one is giving the young bands a chance to expand their horizons. The music industry is mainly catering to the local market.

We intend to broaden the horizon for the musicians here by selling their music overseas to as many places as we can. When you listen to our music, you will realise that it is varied from Rock/Dance/Reggae with influences from the 70s/80s and 90s. A little old and a little new with bits of traditional sounds from the different ethnic groups of English/Malay/Hindi and Tamil.

This is the first of many Albums we will be making. Spread the word and let everyone you know and help us to let the world know we have great musicians here in Malaysia.

Yup, I reviewed the compilation album comprising of 7 Local Artiste/Bands. The songs are sung in English/Malay/Hindi/Tamil and are in the genre of Rock/Dance/Reggae. I found it to be an excellent effort from our local boys. Tracks that stand out are Colin Jansen’s catchy and infectious ‘Love You (Girlfriend)’ that fuses English, Indian and Hindi elements and features Bob Nathan. Big Game comprises pub circuit veterans Gerard Singh, Raymond Chia and Sherman Tan. They score with ‘Call Me’ and ‘Daddy’s Little Ashtray’, both original compositions by Gerard and available on his own album A Slice of the Pie. Guitar maestro Fasy practically sizzles on ‘Been A Long Time’ and ‘Painted On Black’. I can actually imagine his guitar smoking…Purevibracion’s ‘Pesan Nenek’ made it to the top 5 listened to tracks as did ‘Crawl’ by Zubira and ‘Dewiku’ by the Shahrins. Rock Icon Lord is also in the house with ‘Anak Juang’ and ‘Tun Seniman’

The Journeyman album will be launched on June 25th. My verdict? It’s a limited edition - get it pronto or you’ll be kicking yourself in the ass for a long time to come.

Sharizan's new album - Timeless

Sharizan Borhan’s new album Timeless is his 2nd full length album, a live recording of jazz and swing big band standards of the 50’s and 60’s. After a ten year hiatus, this smarty produced album features the Rat Pack standards of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr classics interpreted romantically as only Sharizan can.

Of the nineteen songs, I particularly liked “Come Fly with me’, ‘For Once In My Life”, ‘It Had To Be You’, Cheek To Cheek’ and “Fly Me To The Moon”. My verdict? Geddit, dude – lots of babies are going to be made to this album.
