Retro Sunsplash was conceived and created by 2 gentlemen who had grown weary and tired with the state of dance music which had become repetitive and monotonous. Being veteran Dee Jays themselves Francis Koh and Jay Subramaniam decided to bring the avenue of quality music from the yesteryears which was a scarcity nowadays to patrons who craved it.

Thus, being constant service givers to the community Francis and Jay knew that charity was also seriously lacking from the entertainment industry. Thus, Retro Sunsplash was born! A marriage of quality retrospective entertainment and charity!

The first Retro Sunsplash was held on March 2011 in a pub in PJ. It managed to attract 300 odd people from the ages of 30 and above. It ran from 3pm till 2am, featured 10 famous veteran/senior Djs and it massed a total of RM7,000 from donations alone. The venues, equipment and talent fees were all sponsored and not the value of these were estimated at RM21,000.The Home identified to receive the money was Taman Megah home for children in PJ.

 

The second Retro Sunsplash was held 3 months later due to popular demand on June 2011 also at the same pub in PJ. This time around, it managed to attract 500 odd people from the ages of 30 and above. It ran from 4pm till 3am, featured 10 famous veteran/senior Djs and it massed a total of RM9,000 from donations alone. The venues, equipment and talent fees were all sponsored and not the value of these were estimated at RM25,000.The home identified to receive the money this time around was The Agathian Shelter in Section 8 PJ which went towards restructuring the back part of the home.

Due to the busy schedules of all of the above human beings who were involved in the events above, Retro Sunsplash3 was delayed as the original plan was to do one every 4 months. Now, Retro Sunsplash 3 makes a comeback with a bigger bolder better party/event as many have shown interest to contribute and participate.

Retro Sunsplash 3 will be held on the Sunday 10th of June at Dataran 32 Square and is targeting to attract 1000 people as it will be a street party and carnival.

This event features 10 Djs and will start at 4pm [spirit of Tea dance] and ends approximately at 2am.
